Canadian Comforts has been taking in owner surrenders for the last 6 years. Over the last 3 we had to cut back to case by case due to health issues in our personal lives.
We are currently accepting donations for our upcoming neuter program. Our vet neuters male guinea pigs for $180 per guinea pig. This is a high cost will a even higher chance of our males being adopted because they can be adopted (after healing time) to live with female guinea pig(s) lowering their risk of being returned or kept as single guinea pigs (which isn't fair to them as guinea pigs are social animals). If we have an unneutered male guinea pig in our care you can donate for his neutering or sponsor them by donating the full amount.
If your interested in adopting from us we do have an online adoption application you can fill out. Please 18 years or older apply. If you would like to adopt a guinea pig for your child please contact us first.
Our fees are as follows: Bonded Pairs: $60 to $120*
Single: $40 to $80*
* Special pricing for hairless and spayed/neutered guinea pigs. Hairless guinea pigs require more care, there for we ask for additional adoption fees to cover the extra medical costs (as well as to weed out people who are serious about their care). spaying or neutering a guinea pig is a costly thing, thus the additional costs, we are hoping to lower those when we get more sponsors.
We DO NOT sell cages but we can help you find make your own (see Guinea Pig Housing for more information).
Please note, we will not adopt sows (females) to homes that plan to breed. This would be against what we are trying to do as a rescue. To get an adoption form or to ask any questions please email us at: [email protected]
Surrendering: We currently take in guinea pigs case by case. We have health issues that prevents us from taking on too many guinea pigs. Please contact us at [email protected] to see if we can help you. If not we will try our best to find someone who can.
We do as that people who are surrendering their guinea pigs make a donation to the rescue to help cover food, medical and other care expresses.
